The original iPhone, also known as the iPhone 2G, was the first smartphone developed by Apple. It was first announced on January 9, 2007, and was officially released on June 29, 2007. It was sold under the slogan, "Apple re-invents the phone!". Apple sold 6.1 million iPhones before its discontinuation on July 15, 2008. The iPhone quickly became Apple's most successful product, with later models helping them become the world's most profitable company!
