Magellan NAV 1000/1000 Pro
The Magellan NAV 1000 was the first commerically-available handheld GPS receiver. It was released in 1988, five years after President Ronald Reagan ordered that all GPS technology be released commercially. The second model was the NAV 1000 Pro (seen here), which was released in 1990. The success of the NAV 1000 and 1000 Pro led to many more Magellan GPS receivers, and commercial GPS releases from other companies including Garmin.
