✅ Nintendo Game Cube

The Nintendo GameCube, launched in late 2001, was a powerful, 128-bit departure from the cartridge-based N64, sporting a distinctive "indigo" cube-shaped design and a literal carrying handle. Engineered with custom high-end graphics and processing chips, the system outperformed the PlayStation 2 in raw graphical fidelity, delivering 60-frame-per-second masterpieces like Metroid Prime and Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader. It was the first Nintendo console to adopt optical media, utilizing proprietary 8cm MiniDVD-based discs with a 1.5 GB capacity to combat software piracy, though this smaller format lacked the DVD movie playback of its rivals. The GameCube was a pioneer of local connectivity, featuring four built-in controller ports and a specialized link cable that allowed the Game Boy Advance to be used as a private second-screen controller for games like The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. Despite its toy-like reputation and the lack of a built-in hard drive, the console introduced the industry’s gold standard for wireless gaming with the WaveBird RF controller, cementing its legacy as a dedicated machine with an elite library that included Super Smash Bros. Melee and Pikmin.
