Compaq Story
Compaq had their beginnings in the early 1980's, when they released one of the earliest luggable computers, the Compaq Portable. They also became popular producing some of the earliest IBM PC compatible computers. Compaq computers remained popular through the 1990's, but Dell overtook them in 2001. Struggling to stay alive, Compaq sold to Hewlett Packard in 2002, who used the name on some of their computers until 2013.
