Microsoft Bob
Microsoft Bob was created by Microsoft and released on March 11, 1995. It was intended as a more user-friendly interface for Windows 95, Windows NT, and Windows 3.1x. Microsoft Bob showcased screens showing a house, with individual rooms that the user could visit. Each room had familiar household objects that corresponded to computer applications including a word processor that was presented as a pen and paper. A cartoon dog named Rover and other characters were digital customer service and provided guidance. Microsoft Bob was criticized by consumers and due to its inability to gain market acceptance, it was discontinued less than a year after release in early 1996.
