✅ Nintendo Game & Watch - "Ball"
🥇First Handheld Video Game System from NintendoÂ
The Nintendo Game & Watch Ball (Model AC-01), released on April 28, 1980, is the "Patient Zero" of Nintendo’s handheld empire. Conceived by legendary designer Gunpei Yokoi after he watched a bored businessman playing with a calculator on a bullet train, Ball was the world's first dedicated handheld gaming device to feature an LCD screen. The premise was deceptively simple: players moved a juggler’s arms left and right to catch falling dots, with "Game A" featuring two balls and "Game B" increasing the chaos to three. While it lacked the directional pads or complex graphics of later systems, it introduced the world to the "segmented" liquid-crystal animation style that defined portable gaming for a decade. Today, it stands as a legendary holy grail for retro collectors, celebrated as the humble spark that ignited the mobile gaming industry.
