This band famously doubled as the device's antenna system—a decision that eventually led to the "Antennagate" controversy, where users reported signal loss when holding the phone in a way that "bridged" the antenna gaps. Beyond its looks, the iPhone 4 debuted the Retina Display, which packed four times the pixels of the iPhone 3GS into the same 3.5-inch screen, creating a density of 326 ppi that made individual pixels invisible to the naked eye.
