Commodore Amiga 1000

The Commodore Amiga 1000 was Commodore's first computer in the Amiga line. It was shown off in January 1985 at a Consumer's Electronics Show (CES), but didn't start shipping until early July 1985. At release, the Amiga sold for a price of $1285. At the time, the Amiga had some of the most impressive graphics on computers. Impressive computer animation would be made on Amiga computers in the future, most notably the "Boing Ball", which later became part of the Amiga logo. The system was designed by Jay Miner, whose name was engraved inside the case of the computer, along with his dog Mitchy (as a paw print), and the rest of the Amiga 1000 team. The 1000 was discontinued in 1987 when Commodore released the lower-cost Amiga 500 (the best-selling Amiga model), and the higher-end Amiga 2000.
