🥇First Video Game Console to Feature a Built-in Blu-Ray Player

Sony released the Playstation 3 in Norh America on November 17, 2006. It was officially revealed at E3 2005. A total of 81639 systems were sold in the first 24 hours of release in Japan. Released at a price of $499, it was the first console to use Blu-Ray disk technology as its storage medium. It's best-selling game was Grand Theft Auto V. Riots broke out the day the PS3 was released in North America with many robbings, and shootings around stores with people who wanted to get their hands on the console. The console was discontinued in October 2016 in North America after 87.4 million units were sold worldwide.
